Day Trip: Mt. Lemmon
Bryon and I decided on a last minute trip up Mt. Lemmon this morning, and stayed most of the day. Instead of heading up to higher elevation like I usually do, we pulled off the road at a turnout and scrambled down into the drainage off to the right side of the road, where there's some beautiful cypress and sycamore growing.
One giant cypress that Bryon calls the Grandmother Tree. Indeed, we measured it today, by hugging, and it was two of Bryon's wingspan's and almost two of mine--22 ft in circumference.
The light was dappled, it was cool, water was flowing, and fall leaves littered the ground. It smelled like earthy decay and pine sap, a smell not common in Tucson.
